Join us on Saturday, June 2nd at The Woodlands for the second annual Couch or 5k, sponsored by Dottie's Donuts, Grindcore House, Lehigh Valley Apparel Creations and P.E.T. CORE Fitness.
Runners of all levels are invited to join a fun and friendly (and professionally timed) 5k around the official Woodlands 5k loop. The run starts at 9am. Dogs are welcome to run with you!
Before, during and after the race, your hosts will be serving bottomless iced coffee generously provided by Grindcore House and endless vegan donuts courtesy of Dottie’s Donuts. Participants can choose to run or relax--or both--all while supporting a good cause.
The event is a fundraiser for both The Woodlands, a National Historic Landmark and active cemetery that has blossomed into a vibrant community space, and Misfit Manor, a local nonprofit that rescues, rehabilitates and rehomes at-risk animals, provides refuge to those that cannot be adopted out, and reduces the number of owner-surrenders by helping people care for their companion animals. Funds will also maintain the Philadelphia Pet Pantry for the homeless that was established by proceeds from last year's run.
Some combination of prizes / medals will be given to the top three adult (non-binary, female and male), human child and dog finishers. Participants are encouraged to bring non-perishable dog / cat items for the Philadelphia Pet Pantry, with each donation scoring the donor a raffle ticket and a chance to win additional prizes.
Advance race registration is $35 (in addition to coffee and donuts, you receive a special race day shirt and a runner's membership to The Woodlands). Not a runner? No problem! You can still donate $20 to the cause and partake in the snacking, join the raffle, and cheer on the runners. You don't need to pre-register for couching, just show up! Can't attend? Donations can be made via paypal to firstname.lastname@example.org, which is also where you can email us your questions.
Please note: There will be no vehicular traffic or parking allowed on the grounds for this event. Please see the visit page of our website for more information about transit options. Street parking is available in the surrounding neighborhood. Walking, biking, and use of public transportation are highly recommended.
